Why this exists
A published wedding page is on the open internet under our name. This policy sets the line. It forms part of our Terms of Service and our Vendor Terms, so breaking it breaks those.
It is deliberately short. Almost every couple and vendor will never come close to any of it.
Do not publish
- Anything unlawful under South African law.
- Anything that infringes someone else's copyright, trade mark or other rights — including photographs you do not have the right to publish.
- Anyone's personal information without a reason to publish it, and never anyone's identity number, banking details or home address.
- Sexual or pornographic material of any kind, nudity presented sexually, or graphic violence. This applies to a page whether or not it is published, and to anything sent in a message.
- An intimate image of anyone who has not agreed to it being shared — a criminal offence under section 18F of the Films and Publications Act, and one we report.
- Any depiction of a child that is sexual or exploitative. There is no warning step for this one: the account is closed and the matter goes to the South African Police Service.
- Content that incites violence, or that advocates hatred based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation or any other ground protected by section 16(2) of the Constitution.
- Harassment, threats, or content targeting a private person.
- Malware, phishing pages, or links to either.
- Content designed to deceive — fake reviews, invented endorsements, or a business or person you are pretending to be.
Do not do
- Access an account that is not yours, or try to.
- Probe, scan or test the security of the service, or work around any limit we have set — including photo caps, sign-up gates and the abuse controls on our forms.
- Scrape, bulk-download or index listings, couples, guests or prices.
- Submit automated or bulk RSVPs to someone else's wedding page.
- Send unsolicited marketing to anyone whose details you obtained here.
- Resell or sublicense the service.
- Put load on the service that degrades it for other people.
Guest replies
The RSVP form on a couple's page is for replying to that wedding. Using it to send abuse, advertising or anything else to a couple is a breach of this policy, and repeated abuse from an address gets it blocked.
Messages between couples and vendors
A couple can write to a vendor from their listing, and the vendor can answer. The channel is for arranging a wedding and nothing else. Abuse, threats, sexual propositions, harassment and unsolicited advertising sent through it breach this policy exactly as publishing them would.
Either side can report the other from the conversation itself, and a copy of that conversation as it stands is attached to the report — the person reporting is told that before they send it. A report reaches us and does nothing else: nobody is suspended, blocked or notified automatically. A person reads it and decides. We do not tell the person reported who reported them.
Reporting someone who has done nothing wrong, or reporting repeatedly to make a point, is itself a breach of this policy.
What we do about breaches
It depends on what happened. Most of the time we will contact you, explain the problem and give you a chance to fix it. For anything serious — content that is unlawful, that endangers someone, or that attacks the service — we will remove the content or suspend the account immediately, and tell you afterwards.
We reserve the right to suspend or close an account for a breach of this policy. Where we close a paid account for that reason, the remainder of the plan is not refunded — the refunds page says the same thing from the other side.
We report to the authorities where the law requires it, and we cooperate with lawful requests.
Reporting something
If you have found content here that breaches this policy, tell us. Include the address of the page and what is wrong with it. Copyright complaints have their own process — see our copyright page.
If it happened in a conversation with a vendor or a couple, report it from that conversation rather than by email: the button is under the messages on your own console, and it attaches the conversation for us.
