The short version
We set four cookies. Every one of them is needed for the site to work. We run no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics — which is why you are not being asked to dismiss a consent banner.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on the next request. It is the only way a website can recognise that two page loads came from the same person, which is what makes staying signed in possible.
The cookies we set
- Authentication
- Set by our authentication provider when you sign in. Without it every page would ask you to log in again. Cleared when you log out; otherwise it expires on its own.
- fa_device
- Records whether you are on a phone or tablet, so we can serve the app layout instead of the desktop one before the page paints. Set on your first visit, or when you use the ?device= override.
- fa_device_pin
- Set only if you use the ?device= override. It records which layout you asked for, so our own layout check leaves that choice alone instead of measuring your screen and overruling you. It lasts until you close the browser.
- fa_vendor_theme
- Vendors only. Remembers whether you chose the light or dark console. A display preference, stored on your device rather than in our database.
- fa_season
- Couples only. Remembers which season your site is on, so the navigation bar is already in your colours when a page opens instead of changing colour a moment later. It holds one word — the name of a season — and nothing about you.
- Session-storage flag
- Not strictly a cookie. Our layout check writes one flag to your browser's session storage so it does not reload the page twice. It disappears when you close the tab.
What we do not do
- We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.
- We do not run Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics.
- We do not embed social media widgets that track you.
- We do not sell or share what you do here with data brokers.
- Our fonts are served from our own servers, so loading a page does not tell a font provider you were here.
Third-party requests
A visitor's browser loads the page, its styles and its fonts from us — the fonts are built into the site at release rather than fetched from a font provider. The only other host it reaches is Supabase, which stores the photographs a couple has uploaded. There is no advertising network, no analytics service and no outside image library: a photo slot a couple has not filled is drawn as an empty frame in the page's own colours, not as a stranger's photograph fetched from somewhere else.
Turning them off
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking ours will not break the public wedding pages, but you will not be able to stay signed in, and the phone layout may not be chosen correctly.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or anything that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent before setting it, and update this page. We will not switch something on quietly and mention it here afterwards.
