The position
Couples and vendors publish their own photographs and words here. We do not review them before they go up. If something published on this service infringes your rights, tell us and we will deal with it.
This process follows the shape of Chapter XI of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Our membership of a recognised industry representative body is pending; until it is in place we follow this process anyway, because it is the right way to handle a complaint.

What your notice must contain
Section 77 of the ECT Act sets out what a valid takedown notice needs. Send us all of the following, in writing, and we can act quickly:
- Your full names and address.
- Your written or electronic signature.
- Identification of the right you say has been infringed, and enough detail for us to see that you hold it.
- The material you say is infringing, and the exact web address where it appears.
- Where the material sits on our service, described precisely enough for us to find it.
- A statement that you are acting in good faith.
- A statement that the information in your notice is true and correct to the best of your knowledge.
A notice that knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing carries liability for the damages it causes, under section 77(2) of the ECT Act. Please be sure before you send one.
What we do with it
- We acknowledge your notice.
- Where the notice is valid on its face, we remove or disable access to the material.
- We tell the person who published it what was removed and why, and give them a copy of your notice.
- We keep a record of the notice and what we did.
We do not judge the merits of a copyright dispute — we are not in a position to. Removing material is not a finding that you are right, and declining to remove it is not a finding that you are wrong.
If your content was removed and you disagree
Write to the same address. Identify the material, say where it was, and explain why you have the right to publish it — for example, that you took the photograph, or that you hold a licence from the person who did. If your explanation is credible we will restore the material and tell the complainant, so they can take it up directly with you.
Repeat infringement
An account that repeatedly publishes infringing material will be closed. Wedding photographs are the common case: copyright in them usually belongs to the photographer, not to the couple in the picture. If your photographer's contract does not allow online publication, ask them before you upload.
Our own material
The We Chose Forever name, the wordmark, the page designs, the templates and the illustrations are ours. The typefaces we use are licensed under the SIL Open Font Licence. Our background imagery was created for us and is not third-party stock. You may not copy the templates or the design system for use elsewhere.
Other complaints
For content that is not a copyright matter — impersonation, personal information published without consent, abuse — see our acceptable use policy, which has its own reporting route.
